Many athletes begin at OTB Strength with little or no formal strength training experience. Coaching is individualized and focused on safe positioning, technique, and gradual progression. Whether you are new to lifting or returning after time away, you will be coached at your level.

While OTB Strength has a strong commitment to serving veterans and recovering service members, coaching is open to adaptive athletes, youth, and adults in the Rockville community.
Veterans are a core part of our mission, but strength training here is for anyone seeking a structured, respectful, and coached environment.

Adaptive training is individualized.
Programming is built around each athlete’s physical needs, medical history, and performance goals. Modifications may include adjusted range of motion, specialized equipment, alternative movement patterns, or progressive loading strategies.
Coach LJ’s background as a registered nurse and retired U.S. Public Health Service Captain informs a safety-first approach to coaching. Sessions are deliberate, technique-driven, and built for long-term sustainability.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes.
If you have relevant medical documentation, prior physical therapy notes, or specific lifting equipment (such as braces or sleeves), you are welcome to bring them.
Most importantly, arrive ready to move at a pace that supports your long-term progress. Your first session will focus on assessment, positioning, and foundational movement.
